ASSIGNMENT ONE
“norah and her gurgle pot”
CHALLENGE:
CREATE A SET OF 20 PHOTOS OF norah and her gurgle pot in various locations.
COLOR THEME:
red and yellow
STYLING:
let’s go a little simple vintage on this one. make the clothing simple and one solid color. add some accessories of your choice to the character like earrings, hat, shoes, etc
LOCATION:
go to at least 5 different locations where you feel the character and her prop will stand out.
SHOOTING:
stick to simple settings for these. i want you to make simple portraits like they’re screen grabs or promos for a film.
EDITING:
definitely edit these with a vintage touch. don’t be afraid to play with split toning and low contrast.
GOAL:
THIS ASSIGNMENT IS all about creating your imaginary universe by creating a character and her precious prop. this is going to get you excited to create more characters and little vignettes of those characters. you’ll learn a lot about what you want your personal work to convey and what you really enjoy shooting. i want you to get so damn excited about personal projects through this assignment.
