A little about me….

I believe photography is more than just a physical item to have a look at. It is something that can evoke feeling and thought and questions from the viewers, as well as acting as something we can learn from in the same way words and paintings and drawings and sculptures and other forms of art have taught us throughout our existence as a species. THAT is powerful.

As a photographer, the process of creating photography work is what I am in love with. I am constantly inspired. I am constantly working on my craft. It is the only thing in my life that I can delve into and feel like a real artist at work. This is more than just a job for me. This truly is what I live for. The fact I get hired to document important events in peoples’ lives is a massive honor.

I am inspired by film and music and photography and paintings and fashion and most of all, the boxes of photographs that I grew up looking through. Those simple snapshots on film of birthday parties, holiday parties, vacations, random days in the house, visits to grandparents’ houses, etc. ALL of these things are what inspire me. It is a glimpse into the lives of many people and also of the era that those photographs were made. We get the honor to look and learn from photographs. I find that very important and very beautiful.

I live on a lake and live a very slow, simple life with my fishing boat these days. I have traveled to many places throughout my life and while I miss it, I have been enjoying smaller things such as crossword puzzles, podcasts/audiobooks, being out on the water, and driving around in my car with the windows down.
